Jana K. Hoffman – Editorial Assistant
Jana started at Style as a summer editorial intern and was hired as a staff member upon graduation from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in December 2007. She couldn’t imagine herself in any other career other than magazine publishing. During the winter season, you can find her at Blue Mountain or Bear Creek snowboarding and enjoying a good book outside on the porch during the summer. Since she’s returned to the Valley, Jana has rediscovered all of the great places to go, and enjoys frequenting the Valley’s fantastic restaurants. A fashionista at heart, Jana contributes her style sense to every issue, in addition to other regional topics each month.
Put It In Writing
We want to hear from you!
E-mail your compliments, suggestions, opinions, or anything else you think we want to hear to editor@lehighvalleystyle.com or write to Editor, Lehigh Valley Style, 3245 Freemansburg Avenue, Palmer, PA 18045. Want to Contribute?
We prefer a written proposal of 250 to 300 words as a preliminary query. The proposal should convince us that we should cover the subject, offer descriptive information on how you (the writer) would treat the subject, and offer us an opportunity to judge your writing ability. Background information and writing credentials are helpful.
All unsolicited proposals are sent to us on speculation; replies should be received within eight weeks. You may send your submission via e-mail to editor@lehighvalleystyle.com or to Lisa J. Gotto, Editor-in-Chief, Lehigh Valley Style, 3245 Freemansburg Avenue, Palmer, PA 18045. If you send your proposal by post, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope for materials to be returned. If we decide to commission an article, the writer receives full payment on publication. If the article is found unsuitable through no fault of the writer, 25% of the payment serves as a kill fee.
Lehigh Valley Style is buying First North American Serial Rights only. Our article length ranges from an 1,800-word column to a 2,500 word full-length feature. We consider focused subjects that fall within the general range of Lehigh Valley Style interests such as home design, engaging personalities, gourmet food, art, culture, health, wellness, beauty, and fashion. We do not consider previously published articles. We have a three-month lead time.
Illustrations are not the responsibility of authors, but if you do have photographs, high-resolution jpeg photos, or illustrative materials, please include a selection of them with your submission. Photographs published in the magazine are usually obtained through assignments, stock agencies, or specialized sources. No photo library is maintained and photographs should be submitted only to accompany a specific article proposal.
