Something to Sun By…3 Intriguing Beach Reads

As the April issue hits the stands and appears in mailboxes all over the area, one question still remains, “Who’s that girl?”

I have a tattoo. In fact, I have two. I was 18 when I officially declared that I was going to get inked and wanted a frilly fairy. I poured over designs. Did I want something pretty or woodsy, blue or orange? My mom quickly kyboshed the idea and I was furious because, after all, I was legal.

Winter and I have a love-hate relationship. Most of the time he’s rather dull and unattractive, but from time to time we actually get along with one another.

There were so many great shots of our Vintage Vixens, we thought we’d share a few more with you.

Here’s the latest on my fashion radar.

Me and my sister Jess.

Disco fever. Bell bottom pants. Polyester. Hippies. Go-go girls. Psychedelic. Knee-high platform boots. Funk. Did I mention polyester? Ah, yes, the good ol’ 70s. Although I know very little about this time and can’t quite relate, I have to say, dressing up all 70s-ish is actually pretty fun. Gather a group of people, add food, alcohol, a fashion show, models, and the Style Scene wall, of course, and things can get a little out of hand.

Our models. They wouldn't shut up!

This week, I decided I would provide you with a sneak peek into our August issue’s fashion spread. I don’t want to give anything away, so you’ll have to pick up a copy for the full effect. Lots of running around, shopping, lugging mannequins (borrowed from the gracious Baum School of Art), pulling weeds, getting down and dirty, wading through the creek, and sun-burned arms were all completely worth it.

It’s tough being a Style girl. I mean, we attend events, plan happy hours, socialize–er, network–shop for photo shoots, and somehow create a monthly magazine. And then, there are times, when we are called upon to model.

Rarely do I enter a store in the Lehigh Valley that exudes such a vibe that makes me feel as though I’m in SoHo or Brooklyn. That is, until, I walked into Loose Threads Boutique on 4th Street in Bethlehem. If you’ve become a regular reader, my love for the Bethlehem area is rather obvious. That said, those who know me would tell you New York City is my favorite place to visit and hang out. It is, after all, only an hour- and-a-half away and our bus service to and from is unbelievably convenient.

The three interns of Running in Heels: Ashley, Talita, & Samantha

Ah, yes another real-life saga of three young women pitted against each other to be considered the best in their respective position at work, which happens to be the internship position at Marie Claire magazine on the wild and ruthless island of Manhattan. This newest drama-filled look at what goes on behind-the-scenes at a national magazine, Running in Heels is currently airing on the Style network on Sundays (sometime, not sure when because I have now mastered my digital recording device and it just records it whenever it is on.)
