I had a rather interesting Labor Day weekend. It was pleasantly relaxing, but surprisingly eventful, too. My extended weekend began with a walk around the South Side visiting the usual characters for a lively First Friday.

Truthfully, seafood is one of those topics that I know very little about. And rightly so–I don’t have much of a taste for it so I don’t eat it. It’s definitely a texture thing, for one. But I’m also a picky eater with a rather bland palate. When my friend Marty Desilets invited me to a benefit dinner for the Gulf to help support clean-up efforts for the worst oil spill disaster in our history held at Starfish Brasserie in Bethlehem, I admit I was a bit hesitant.

Musikfest has come and gone. This year, since I now live in Bethlehem’s South Side, I decided that I would write pre- and post-Musikfest blogs with my thoughts on festing in my backyard.

I’ve attended Musikfest ever since I was a toddler rolling around in a stroller. Up and down Main Street, my eyes would dart from one sight to another. Of course, things have changed over time and so have the herds of crazed, hormonal teenagers who line the main drag, but I still make it a point to get in my fair share of ‘festing.

Just last Friday evening I discovered a delish new restaurant spot in South Side Bethlehem. Nearly a month has passed since I moved into my new apartment and it’s fair to say I’ve done my share of exploring. You can catch up on your reading here and here.

Approximately one year ago, I stepped into my very first yoga class at Elevation Yoga Studio in Bethlehem with my friend Amanda King. You may remember my blog post about it. You can re-read it here.

I have officially lived in my new South Side Bethlehem apartment for one week. So far, so good! It’s taken me a few days to clean and settle in, but I think I’ve made progress especially in the decorating department. Although, I admit, I desperately need artwork to fill my blank walls.

OK, so the Valley really isn’t that small. But there’s nothing more refreshing, in my humble opinion, than witnessing a group of people band together for one particular cause.

Last month, I attended a Bethlehem City Council meeting because one member was threatening to take away funds specifically allocated for the Bethlehem Skateplaza Project.
