Me and my sister Jess.
Disco fever. Bell bottom pants. Polyester. Hippies. Go-go girls. Psychedelic. Knee-high platform boots. Funk. Did I mention polyester? Ah, yes, the good ol’ 70s. Although I know very little about this time and can’t quite relate, I have to say, dressing up all 70s-ish is actually pretty fun. Gather a group of people, add food, alcohol, a fashion show, models, and the Style Scene wall, of course, and things can get a little out of hand.
This past Saturday (June 6) LVS attended 70s Flashback at Metro Beauty Academy in Allentown. The themed shindig benefitted Camelot for Children and was put on to also celebrate Image International’s 20th Anniversary.

A dance performance before the fashion show.
You should have seen some of the outfits! I chose a vintage late-60s, early-70s hippie-inspired column dress from UnderWired in Bethlehem. The dress had sheer elastic sleeves that billowed out and moved with every step I took. It was black with giant turquoise and orange flowers and spots of black and white for contrast. I tried it on a couple of weeks ago and instantly knew it was the perfect dress! I went for the hippie-chic look with a neutral brown head wrap and a dream catcher that I turned into a necklace with a thin leather rope chain. Naturally, platforms completed my look.
There were pimps dressed in velvet, tacky disco girls, white platform boots, printed dresses and shirts, blazers in yellows and blues, and even Wonder Woman made an appearance.
As I walked around snapping photos with my Fujifilm digi, Lehigh Valley Grand Prix’s Mike McCreary asked me if I was going to blog about the event. Well, Mike, yeah looks like I did. Hope you’re reading this!

Overall the night was a success. I thought the fashion show was too long, but most of the outfits were fun and wearable. Oh yeah, how could I forget to mention the 70s-esque drink, Buzz Aldrin, with Tang? If I’m ever invited to another 70s party, I am so ready!
