It was a perfectly minimalistic and fun-filled Friday evening wedding for Kim and Rich Adams of Allentown. Laughter and love filled the air at Lehigh Country Club with family and close friends surrounding the betrothed couple.
The two have actually remained close friends for years until they officially began dating in 2007. Their parents are long-time friends and often joked that the two should consider becoming exclusive, but neither took the suggestion seriously until years down the road.
Golfing roots run deep through both families, so Rich decided on a surprise engagement in October 2008 while Kim was taking lessons. According to Kim, he hid the ring inside her putter cover and insisted she take good care of her clubs by covering them. A shocked Kim found the ring nestled inside!
On their wedding day, which Kim admits was “so us,” they enjoyed a laid back, stress-free ceremony and reception that was very sweet and personal complete with Kim’s favorite colors, pink and green. Close friend and New Hampshire Superior Court Judge Gary Hicks as well as Allentown Judge William H. Platt, who made it official, married the two. It rained the day prior, so Kim spent much of the ceremony barefoot because her heels sank into the ground. She opted for two pairs of shoes that evening, too, clearly highlighting her stylish side.
Rather than a formal sit-down, their guests were invited to a buffet-style dinner with different finger food stations. The Renaissance Orchestra of the Delaware Valley provided music for the evening. Kim and Rich credit their wonderful families and vendors like Priscilla of Boston in Ardmore, PA, for her dress; Jos. A Banks for his suit; Phoebe Floral of Allentown for floral arrangements; Phyllis LaFollette for cupcakes; and Ron Markman & Son of Philadelphia for rings for a simply chic wedding.
