This winter, look hot while it’s cold outside. Outerwear can often get overlooked when it comes to fashion. The truth is that your coat makes a statement before your outfit does, so make sure you are wearing the proper topper to reflect your personal style.
The Short Options
Vests are this season’s must have outerwear addition. A great vest provides warmth and style because it enables you to show off your outfit underneath. Leave the puffy vests behind this season because fur is the popular trend. Whether you’re going for the real or faux fur, stick to neutral colors so you can mix and match it with multiple outfits. The great thing about this vest is that you can continue wearing it even when you’re inside. This formfitting vest provides the option to belt it and really show off your waistline. This vest is available at JCPenney.

The bomber jacket is a great trendy look that looks good on just about everyone. The jacket is one of the shortest styles around, usually hitting above the hips. Again, this select style can be found in faux and real leather so whatever your preference or budget you’ll be able to find one you’ll love for seasons to come. The great thing about this jacket is that it is very versatile. You can wear this around town running errands and then throw it on later in the evening with some skinny jeans and heels and impress your friends with a city chic look.
Toggle coats remain popular. This year’s styles offer a twist with shorter variations; creating a more youthful take on a classic style. If you think that toggles won’t be enough to keep out the blustery winds, think again because usually there is a hidden zipper and then the layer of toggles. Try this style in classic black and white. This versatile version goes to the office as well as it goes to the mall.
Mid-Length Options
When we normally hear the word trench coat we almost always assume it to be longer in length. Not this time, try a twist on the classic trench with this mid-length style. Same great timeless appeal we’ve grown to know and love but now it’s more functional (don’t have to worry about it getting stuck in the car door!). Normally, petite women shy away from a trench fearing that they will disappear in it. Now everyone can enjoy the trench and its sliming effects by using the belt.
Perhaps, the most common winter coat is the pea coat. There really is no wrong way to wear this timeless style. However, if you want to update the look, go bold. Bright fun colors turn the pea coat into a statement and not just typical outerwear. You’re never too old to wear bright colors. Having a fun coat is great for doing things outside of the work place like shopping on the weekends. With so many colors to choose from, you’re bound to find one that fits your personality.

Long Options
This stunning black and white check pattern is sure to be a crowd pleaser. While a long coat may be more cumbersome to wear, it does create a larger palette for personal expression. So try a fun color, pattern, or just add a stunning broach for a punch of panache. This is a great look for business and of course, it keeps you warmer and more comfortable on the coldest of winter days. This style is very office-practical but also works well on winter date nights.
Add subtle fur for a fun and yet sophisticated look. If the all over fur vest was too much try just a touch of fur to a longer jacket and be on trend. This style of coat is the perfect match for going out on the town. This modern style with fur collar is provides a classic chic silhouette. Add a little bling to the rest of your outfit and you’ll be sure to be turning heads no matter where you are headed.
