The definition of aromatherapy is “the use of fragrances to affect or alter a person’s mood or behavior.” So during the chaos of holidays take a few moments to relax with some scents of the season.

Snow and ice are the worst enemies of any driver and with these weather conditions fast approaching we thought it best to obtain expert road tips to prepare for the season ahead.
Happy traveling!

Let’s face it. No matter how many times you tell your friends and loved ones what you like, you’re bound to miss out on a few of the gifts you were hoping to get. So after the frenzy of the holiday, why not plan a little shopping trip for one and treat yourself to an end of year pick-me-up.

This has been a crazy month for me! While today I am sitting behind the Style editorial assistant’s desk, exactly one month ago I was flying back from San Francisco totally confused about where my last job was going. My boss at the college I was writing for had decided that my co-worker and I had the ideal personality to be fundraisers. But before we could land the next million-dollar gift he thought that it would be a good idea for us to attend a conference to learn what to say and when to say it. A week in San Fran all expenses paid – sign me up!

The beautiful view of San Francisco from my hotel.

The conference was nice and all, but I was still really confused as to why/if I belonged there. After an exhausting week of trying to cram in every San Fran experience we could around the time we spent in the conference (yes, we went to a San Francisco Giants game) we were headed back to the East Coast on a very, very long flight.

Ah, blogging. I’ve put it off for as long as I could, but now the time has come to take on this new media forum. What

No fancy touch screen here

made me take the plunge, you ask? Why this new, awesome job as the editorial assistant for LVS. Upon receiving this position, my editor, Lisa, stressed that I would be participating in many of the requisite social media-related tasks for the magazine: Facebook, Twitter, blogging. Now, it’s not that I’m opposed to all of this stuff. I know it’s necessary in fact, for many businesses, but it’s just that I simply know nothing about it. And I’ll admit, I’m a bit resistant to learn, which is weird because I’m 24 and this is what all of my peers are doing-and people my parent’s age-and basically the entire modern world

I like being resistant to technology trends. I don’t care to have the latest techie gadget. I like doing things the hard way. I was typing on an enormous laptop from 2003 up until a few months ago. I had dial-up Internet for longer than I care to admit. I don’t have an iPod. I don’t even know how to burn CDs. I don’t have a fancy touch screen cell phone. I don’t use my current cell phone to go on the Internet and I rarely text (a fact that drives my friends crazy). My digital camera is the size of an alarm clock and yes, if you make a move, the photo will come out blurry. And I think it goes without saying that I don’t have a personal Facebook account. I know I’m going to have to stop being so stubborn and just get on board with the 21st century already, but I still need some time.

My clunky old laptop

Lisa once said to me, “Meghan, you’re going to have to get used to social media or you’re never going to make it!” Well, I have every reason to believe she’s right. So here’s my first attempt at making it. Stay tuned…
