I’m no stranger to the blogosphere. I’ve contributed to several here and there over the last few years mainly because they were my friends’ and it would be good writing experience, and partly because it occupied my time. To some, blogging is a completely strange and new medium, which they have yet to grasp or simply read and enjoy. To me, a girl who has had Internet access since the fourth grade, blogging is practically second nature and an important outlet for expressing thoughts and information.

Jennifer,

No matter what I try I cannot camouflage the tiny spider veins and pink patches I get on my cheeks in the winter.  What can I do?  What do I use?

For many, the winter months are dull, dreary, and dead not to mention cold and frustrating. I can’t say I disagree. To help me get through the season, I picked up snowboarding. I remember I was a freshman in high school (I went to Dieruff) when I joined the ski club because I wanted to learn how to ride. My first attempts were pathetic to say the least. Blue Mountain’s Burma Road, the bunny slope, and that slow-moving double chair (at the time it was intimidating) were as far as I would venture. Who needed the other side of the mountain, anyway? Despite many a fall and bruise, I was determined to learn how to carve on my front side and back side and make it down the mountain spill-free.

I’m not naïve to the economic crisis. It’s clearly evident in daily headlines, newscasts, and the lack of shoppers at our local and name-brand retailers. In fact, I just finished glancing headlines: Starbucks and Boeing will cut jobs and the government is considering discontinuing Saturday mail delivery. I’m sure you’ve heard Freeman Jewelers in downtown Allentown has closed its doors after nearly 100 years in business.

When I considered contributing a blog to this Web site I had concerns that I would have trouble discerning what makes for blog-worthy discourse. Everyone who works with me knows that I first and foremost consider myself an editor-geek.

Like many college kids, I always enjoyed when our prof opted to show us a film in class instead of pacing about with the standard lecture. At no time was this option more appreciated than when it came to night classes. My Monday night Communications Law class was a tedious exercise; a continual quest to stay focused, oh, heck—to stay awake. Needless to say, I was thrilled the night Professor Shenton walked in with a VHS tape under his arm.

First it was my radio, boom box, and then my Walkman. I have, over the course of the last several years, shed all my audio toys for iTunes downloads and a device I clip to my shirt that is so small I just know I am going to loose it. Now it looks like my precious TV is the next to go. Oh no!
